У 1993 році журнал PC Professional опублікував сатиричну статтю автора "Lisa Birgit Holst" з фейковими "фактами" — серед них був і павуковий міф. Авторське ім’я — анаграма від "This is a Big troll"

Павуки уникають людей через шум, запах сну й теплий вдих — таким чином, шанс проковтнути хоча б одного павука уві сні практично дорівнює нулю.
